Academic Appointments

Dr. John Matthew Fabian serves as faculty at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston McGovern Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He lectures psychiatric residents and medical students in the areas of forensic psychology, psychiatry and forensic neuropsychology and neuroscience. Special training emphasis is allocated to the application of neuroscience to legal and forensic issues.

Dr. Fabian also serves as faculty at the Forensic Psychiatry/Psychology Fellowship Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC)-Center for Forensic Behavioral Science. The fellowships in both forensic psychiatry and psychology emphasize in-depth training to active duty officers of the US Army that will foster trainees’ development of advanced professional skills as forensic psychiatry and psychological practitioners. Training occurs within the scientist – practitioner training model, utilizing a mentor model as the primary vehicle for interactive transfer of skills and knowledge. This primary model is supplemented by broad didactic training, courtroom experience, and consultancy with members of diverse professional disciplines.
